FOF Graduates Collection

Rochester, New York

I was born and raised in Vietnam before moving to Rochester, New York, at the age of 18, where I earned an associate’s degree in illustration. The thing I have done most of the time throughout my life is drawing, and 90% of my drawings were female characters in movies I watched, wearing everything from flowy Asian traditional costumes to regular everyday clothes. But fashion was never a thought until one day my dad, surprisingly, showed me a fashion design program from a school pamphlet. Only then did I start to learn how to sew with a home sewing machine to make some garments for the FIT admission application. From that point until now, through lots of difficulties and pressure, I have enjoyed designing clothes. I always want to bring an intangible concept into a tangible garment, crossing the line between masculine and feminine, classic and cool, culture and modernity, imperfect raw but beautifully done. I believe that sportswear/ready-to-wear is what fashion really about, what everyone wears every day in this modern age.
