Mehee Han has been teaching at FIT since 2018. She grew up helping her mother with her traditional Korean Hanbok business. The creativity involved in the process of dyeing the silk fabric to create beautiful hanboks (Korean clothing) for a bridal trousseau and other special occasions, allowed her to experiment with colorful fabric at a very young age and naturally drew her to the world of fashion as she grew up.

After completing her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Korea, she travelled to New York City and fell in love with the fashion and culture there. She returned to study fashion in NYC and graduated from FIT.

She has been a part of the fashion industry for more than 18 years working with brands like Banana Republic, Elie Tahari, and Anne Klein and most recently she was Senior Design Director at The Limited for 13 years. During her time there, she translated the conceptual view of various seasons into multiple women’s wear categories. She identified trends in the industry and led the creative direction in developing multiple collections that support the brand’s vision and overall business strategy.

Mehee’s strong suit is her ability to identify and understand the brand’s clientele which enable her to craft designs that elevate the aesthetic of the brand and support the strategic growth of the brand business. She is fondly referred to as “Yoda” by her friends who hear her talk with passion about how she enjoys teaching fashion design. She lives in Jersey City with her daughter Junie and loves to travel, visit local markets, and go vintage shopping.
