My thesis project is inspired by the Portuguese word saudade, which expresses a deep sense of nostalgic longing and incompleteness. Reflecting on my time studying abroad in Milan, where I yearned for both New York and Europe, I've come to accept a perpetual sense of saudade, tethering me to distant places and memories. This project, a self-portrait of sorts, uses the metaphor of a shattered mirror to convey feelings of brokenness and missing pieces within my design.
