Sulbus and Stari

Sulbus and Stari is a representation of the Eastern Anatolian region of Turkey, where my family originates, primarily focusing on the women of the East. Reflecting the richness of Eastern Anatolia, I delve into the lives of these women, with my grandmother being the central figure. Throughout our family photo albums, I frequently encounter images adorned with lace, images in the kitchen and in traditional women's attire. Drawing inspiration from the puff breads my grandmother bakes in our village home, I incorporate their silhouettes into my works. From my grandmother to all the hardworking women who labor and nurture in these lands, Sulbus and Stari honors motherhood and the dedication of the women of this rich soil.
