My thesis explores the concept of surveillance, examining how society imposes control on individuals and how we, in turn, regulate ourselves. Whether through dress codes or performance, we conform to societal surveillance as a defense against emotional and physical harm. Clothing becomes a tool for communicating the nuanced dichotomy between the private and public persona. My project offers a sense of liberation from surveillance for plus-sized individuals.
