FIT Future of Fashion 2024

Entomode

Look One's garments consist of bug-inspired sailor trousers made of black boiled wool, a spotted woolen corset with exaggerated hips, and a sheer nude organza blouse with oversized sleeves. Look Two's garments consist of a black, double-breasted jacket with tailcoats inspired by insect wings, a black leather dress with organza ruffle, and exposed bustle with raw edge organza cascading. Each look is completed with a wool cap decorated with netting.

Look One contains black, boiled-wool trousers with sailor-inspired flap and button closure. They are completed with an insect leg-inspired insert in the side seam and matching wool-covered buttons. The corset is made from two variations of polka-dot wool and is exaggerated on the hip with the help of stuffing sewn into the lining. The blouse underneath it is made from layered organza and tulle that is nude in color. The sleeves are leg-o-mutton inspired with large elasticated puffs.

Look Two has a black, boiled-wool jacket with insect wing-inspired coattails. Complete with lace lining to represent the sheer layering of real insect wings, it pairs as a suit with the trousers from Look One. The mini dress beneath the coat is made from black hair-calf with a tulle and organza ruffle trim. On top of the dress is an exposed bustle cage with layers of raw-edge black and nude organza cascading down the model's back.

Entomode is a Fall/Winter collection that explores environmental themes, particularly the impact of human activities on biodiversity. Focusing on the often overlooked effects of pollution on insects, the collection merges 1800s fashion with insect-inspired silhouettes. Through this fusion, it both honors the evolution of fashion and also highlights current issues like overconsumption, pollution, and unsustainability.
