Ready to Wear

Utility workwear elastic band with several pockets and a map of UAE embroidered out of industrial O rings.

Visible-mending romper with utility belt and detachable train

Garment includes a handmade industrial attention sign pendant in brass and bolts sewn in between pleats.

Closer view of romper paired with the utility belt to create illusion of a single mini dress

Handsewn sashiko and machine mending throughout the piece amplify lines and grid while also bringing new life to worn-out clothing.

Back view of romper with open back detail. Velcro straps as utility belt closure.

Detachable train with snaps and rivets on pockets of the belt

Romper with train worn as a hooded scarf to show versatility

Train tied and snapped around the waist to convey movement and length

An exploration of my formative experiences at my dad's garage, rooted in the essence of my childhood there and my present experiences learning to work there. Looking at work wear, but turning the aspect of a uniform into something opposite of that. Drawing from arts and crafts, inevitable wear with visible mending, and honoring work that I have seen for years around me. Playing with lines, fluidity, structure, and grids to create an organic sense of chaos.
