“حسين مني وأنا من حسين” (Hussein meni wa ana men Hussein) means: I am from Hussein, and Hussein is from me. It expresses a deep, mutual belonging between person and place. This project reimagines everyday Egyptian garments, like the galabia dress and the tanoura skirt, through contemporary knitwear and design. It draws from the culture I grew up in, centering the present and future of Egyptian identity, with each piece carrying the textures, streets, and memories of El Hussein.
