The Old Man of the Andes
High up in the Andes, there's a beautiful connection between the Aymara people and the native cacti. What really caught my eye was how these cacti grow soft hair to protect themselves from the harsh mountain weather.
To me, this felt just like the Aymara women, who wear voluminous layered skirts, patterned bundles, and intricate decorations to preserve their identity. In this collection, l wanted my designs to tell a story about resilience, showing how something so soft can be incredibly strong in a tough environment.
