The Devil's Trill Sonata

Two different textures of metallic fabric are sewn together on the seams in a princess style. Hand-beaded embroidery in the shape of two quarter notes, the bass clef, and a quaver note were sewn from under the breast to the bottom of the hip all along the front of the dress. Quaver note is on the right side front, the two quarter notes are at center front, right bellow the breast, and the bass clef is on front left. Pleats are sewn all around the bottom of the dress below knee.

Pleats are ruffled and sewn at the armhole with mesh fitted and sewn below the armhole. The bass clef and quarter note were embroidered with bead techniques like satin stitch and basic back stitch.

Pleats were done using a stencil and steaming and sewing together.

This collection is named after Tartini’s Devil’s Trill Sonata, inspired by both its brilliance and origin. Tartini dreamed he made a deal with the devil, who played an extraordinary piece. This theme explores what makes someone extraordinary—talent, dedication, or a hidden self—and what we sacrifice to create meaning. It asks not just what we take from others, but what we lose of ourselves.
