Dobriana Gheneva is an experienced outerwear and functional apparel designer, specializing in men's and women's performance and outdoor clothing. She has worked with well-known outdoor and activewear brands such as Nike, The North Face, Mountain Hardware, and Reebok, providing design consultancy services.
Gheneva has multiple proprietary patents for her innovative apparel designs and has received awards such as the ID Magazine Gold Award, Warner Brothers Toyota Award, and Silhouettes Magazine Sportswear Design Award. Her work has been featured in publications such as WWD and Vogue. Additionally, she has assisted with patent-related cases, preparing declarations and providing deposition testimony. Gheneva holds a BFA in Fashion Design from FIT and a BFA in Textile Design from St. Gallen, Switzerland. She currently serves as a full-time faculty member at FIT.
What did you find unique about this year's class?
Every class is unique! It is great to see how the students evolve throughout the semester, as a class and individually.
Do you have any advice for the graduating class?
Be curious, and stay in touch with each other.
What is your favorite part about being a professor?
Teaching is incredibly fulfilling, challenging, and never boring. My students have taught me a lot, and I am very grateful to them.
