Banano: Reimagining Resilience; The Strength of Mayan Women in the Face of Violent Oppression

Inspired by my Mayan roots, my collection is an homage to the resilience of a dispossessed community. I draw from the vibrant colors, intricate textures, and symbolic patterns of Guatemala's artisanal textiles, infusing them with manipulated embroidered silk to form striking, sustainable, and deconstructed silhouettes. Each piece is a bold ode to the fierce beauty and unwavering spirit of Mayan women throughout exfiltration, guerrilla resistance, and the aftermath of a 30-year genocide.
