Inspired by old and venerable memories of my mother when I was born, her memories are immortalized in RealAllegory. In the late 20th century, a preference for sons was still prevalent. “Real” represents an unpleasant truth, tied to my mother’s suffering for having another daughter. In contrast, “Allegory” comes from my mother’s conception dream: in a cave, as a figure of a tiger, she protects me from enemies in the world. It is a dream that embodies the affection between my mother and me.
