Professor Philippa Lindenthal is a fashion designer and associate professor in the Department of Fashion Design at FIT. She has also taught internationally at various institutions, including for FIT at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University Hangzhou, and at ESMOD Berlin and HAW Hamburg. Her extensive experience as a designer for high-end brands such as DKNY, Jil Sander, Moschino, and Rene Lezard makes her a well-rounded role model for future generations.
In 2005, Lindenthal founded her namesake label (philippalindenthal.com), which features women's and men's wear and knitwear. At international events such as Berlin Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week, she presented multiple innovative collections. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the prestigious Royal College of Art in London and was also recognized as a finalist by United Arrows and Onward Kashiyama, Tokyo.
What did you find unique about this year's class?
Current young designers’ awareness of digital media and how habits and memories impact their creative processes. Can we find balance, so that the tactile and the virtual used together benefit the students portfolio?
