Photo 1 - A black coat with asymmetrical lapels and a typography pants with red threads embroidery (front view)

My look is inspired by the “Matchmaking Corner” in China, where parents display their child’s resume with hopes of finding them an ideal mate.  The garment’s colors represent different sides of this experience:  black for the dark side, beige for the bright side, red and blue symbolizing women and men.

Photo 2 - A black coat with asymmetrical lapels (detail)

The silhouette and asymmetrical lapels were inspired by the shapes of overlapping A4 size papers. I used red stripes to show a symbol of love, which relates to my theme.

Photo 5

Typography pants with words relating to the “Matchmaking Corner”, such as “Age”, “Height”,” Appearance”, “Occupation”, “High Salary”, and “Bachelor’s Degree”, printed on strips of fabric with decorative red thread embroidery .

The model’s face was covered by an A4 size paper listing age, job, appearance, salary, etc. The A4 size papers are used in representing people, who are treated as “products” in the “Matchmaking Corner”.

My interest in fashion design stems from my inherent pursuit of beauty. I love watching model runway shows, researching fashion magazines and appreciating beautiful clothes. Throughout these activities, I found that fashion design offers more than what I had envisioned. The way I see it, fashion design is a unique form used to extend personal interests and convey unique concepts and values to the outside world. I really enjoy this perfect balance between tradition and creativity. As for my specialization, I choose sportswear because it contains both day and evening fashion, making it possible to create a variety of designs. My design aesthetic is classic and modern with small, fun, and eye-catching details. In the future, I want to create my own brand and bring my designs to New York Fashion Week. This is an ambitious target, but I will strive to achieve it.
