My designs are an extension of my intellect and emotions. Naturally, I grew up fascinated by the art of fashion design, despite the adults and peers who often expressed their dismay with my interests. I was told that I needed to choose a more realistic career path. A lack of intellectual and financial resources has only ever motivated me to improve my craft each and every day. To unapologetically create designs that speak to, not only me, but also many others, is a feeling that words cannot describe. I’ve always been inclined to rebel against what I’ve been told was “right.” I think it’s important that with the use of sportswear, my designs tell society it’s okay to feel strong and powerful in one’s body. We’ve been conditioned to be ashamed of traits that are inherent in our nature, so my greatest hope is to help break that rule.
