To Be Loved

To Be Loved is a project dedicated to unconditional love in all forms and to my incredible loved ones, who have been the ultimate support system through all the ups and downs of life, and especially throughout my creative journey. My thesis is meant to convey the ability to embrace oneself through the embrace of others. This gown embodies love with romantic, organic draping, juxtaposed with a structural, boned bodice to convey a sense of strong support and give variation to the silhouette.

Photo of a model in a front three-quarter pose, wearing a blush beige silk taffeta gown that has taffeta draped on top, stopping just below the bust, and also draped at the skirt, starting just below the natural waist and stopping above the knee. The silk taffeta has a soft shine to it. Between the two draped sections is a very fitted, sheer beige organza paneled bodice, with beige boning channels to contrast the large, organic shapes on top and bottom. Draped with the silk taffeta on the skirt is a layer of beige netting, which is sewn down and tucked with the taffeta. The netting continues down past the bottom of the draped taffeta of the skirt and extends to the floor, creating a long, sheer skirt. The model wears nude shoes and a handmade, triple-strand choker made of beige and copper-toned organically shaped pearls. The model's right leg is slightly forward, crossed in front of her left leg, and her right elbow extends outward, with her right hand resting on her right hip. The background is a warmer-toned beige.
