The Fashion Institute of Technology is New York’s celebrated college for creative and business talent. FIT is part of the State University of New York, offering 48programs that are affordable and relevant to today’s rapidly changing fields. FIT draws on its New York City location to provide a vibrant, diverse community in which to learn. Unique facilities include The Museum at FIT, one of the world’s leading collections of fashion and textiles; its acclaimed exhibitions draw visitors from around the world.

FIT is deeply connected to New York City’s design, fashion, marketing, and communications sectors. The faculty brings high-level industry experience to the classroom, working as corporate executives, entrepreneurs, consultants, designers, artists, and authors. Founded in 1944 to meet the fashion industry’s need for well-educated, highly skilled designers and managers, the college now includes a range of creative fields, from toy design, animation, and game design to cosmetics marketing, international trade, and filmmaking. It has approximately 8,000 students and grants AAS, BFA, BS, MA, MFA, and MPS degrees.

In 2022, the Center on Education and the Workforce at Georgetown University placed FIT first among public colleges that predominantly award associate’s degrees for its “net present value” 10 years post-graduation, a measure of return on investment; FIT placed second among public four-year colleges. CEOWORLD magazine ranked FIT first on its list of Best Fashion Schools in the World for 2023.
